The Rivage

Miami Beach, Florida 

S+A designed the restoration and expansion of the historic Ankara Motel into a new hotel called The Rivage. The project is sited at the strategic and waterfront intersection of Collins Avenue, the Collins Canal, Lake Pancoast, and Indian Creek. This prominent location at the Collins Avenue entry point to South Beach is celebrated by a design that restores the existing mid-century galleried motel, with its glass and stone lobby, and adds a 7-story addition behind. 

The cellular units of the motel are transformed into luxury hotel rooms, while the new structure adds more than 65,000 SF of mid-rise hotel units and on-site parking. The project features a restored water-facing pool deck, enhanced with landscaping and fountains, and plays up the hotel's dynamic connection with the waterways of Miami Beach.
